Navaratri is a nine-day long festival, dedicated to worshiping the Nine divine forms of Goddess Durga each day. The tenth day is observed as Vijaya Dashami – The day of victory.

Goddess Lalita is one of the incarnations of Goddess Parvati worshiped on fifth day of Navaratri, along with Goddess Skandmata, as it is the appearance day of Goddess Lalita.

Goddess Lalita is also known as LalitaTripur Sundari, Shodasi, Rajrajeshavri and Tantrik Parvati. She is represented as sixteen years old girl and is believed to possess sixteen mystical powers. She is the Goddess of Srikula systems.

Lalita Panchami is celebrated with great magnificence way in Gujarat, Maharashtra and South India and people keep fast known as Lalita Panchami Vrat.

When is it observed?

It is celebrated on 29th September 2014, on the fifth day of Navaratri i.e. Shukla Paksha panchami of Ashwin month according to lunar calendar.

Devotees worshiped Lalita Panchami with great devotion and dedication to get prosperity.

Maa Lalita

Goddess Lalita devi, the utmost form of Goddess Parvati, appears with beautiful smile in red sari, three eyes and having a goad, noose, bow of sugarcane and the flowery arrow in Her four hands. She is guarded by other Gods and Goddess like Laxmi, Saraswathi, Shiv, Vishnu, Brahma, Rudra, and Ganesh. She sits on Sri Chakra.

Legend

The main purpose of birth of Lalita devi was to defeat demon Bhadasur, formed from the ashes of Kama deva, who disturbed God Shiva in his meditation.

But the reason behind this was to wake up lord Siva who can have a child to Maa Parvathi to kill the Demon named Tarakasura. But Shivji unaware of this fact turned Kamdev into ashes with his third eye. Later one of the Pramath Gana made an idol with this ash. Shivji, realizing his mistake starred at the idol and turned it into a great power. This power changed as a demon named "Bhandasura". He tried to conquer this entire creation with his energy. At that time Maa Parvathi took the form of Lalitambika and destroys the demon and blessed him with his previous form of Kamdev. All devatas praised her and accepted as the head of this creation as "Maha Samragni'.

Significance

Goddess Lalita Tripura Sundari is the popular form of Shakti upasana in recent times. She is the main deity who occupies the "Meru" of the Sri Chakra and worshiped as Para Devata. It is believed that the Sri Vidya is the best among the Shakti sadhanas and there is no further sadhana after attaining siddhi in this upasana. That's why it is called as Para Vidya. Sri Lalita maa is the principle deity of this sacred tradition.

Lalita Devi is worshiped by chanting Lalita sahasranaam and Lalitatrishati to strong the planetary positions in related problems of marriage, children, and distressed mind of teenage.
